Project Manager IRC |
Issues, Risks, Change Requests, Client Requests and Service Requests are considered collectively as IRC They each follow a similar data makeup and process but have different uses and applications. The I.R.C section has been separated from the Project Manager manual as it may be used by both Project Managers and Senior Executives as Issues, Risks, Changes and Requests may apply at an organisational level as well as at a project level.
The following Process flow outlines the way IRC items are typically utilised in an organisation. This demonstrates the recording of inputs into the system and their logical flow through to resolution or action.
The application uses a ”type” field to differentiate between IRC items. The type of IRC determined by where it is entered from and who it is entered by.
IRC items are then assigned with Action Plans (tasks), specific to the type of item and can be used to:
Establish the approach (eg resolve, avoid, contingency plan etc)
Overview the plan effort and cost(a number of tasks)
Authorise work and enable tracking of effort
Action plans for Change Requests can be used to create new projects. Since a Change Request can be created from an IRC item, projects can result from any IRC item.
All updates and edits to IRC items are logged in the IRC Journal so history is captured.
